Don’t Bother Praying

Forget about praying! Never thought you’d hear that from a church, did ya? Well, it’s true. Indeed, there are moments when God calls us to pause before we pray, and - as Pastor Randy reminds us - prayer without a humble heart does not honor the Lord. When we stand against God’s will, we can’t expect prayer to rescue us from the trouble our choices create. When our hearts are hard— like King Belshazzar, who lifted himself up against God — pride will lead us astray. Moreover, if we claim to know God while trying to hide some hefty sin, our prayers ring hollow. In these moments, God will let us reap the fruit of our own path.

But there is hope. Prayer becomes a lifeline when it proceeds from a penitent heart. When we turn back to God, He hears. For without repentance, prayer is empty — but with repentance, prayer paves the way to unlimited grace!
